Lord Krishna known as Lord of love, care and destroyer of Adharma. People worship him as a mischievous God who taught them how to love to others, how to devote their lives in the stand of Dharma, etc. He leads the path of so many people. He set an example of friendship for people and taught them how a friend should be.
Lord krishana took birth as the eight child of Vasudeva and Devaki in the Jail of mathura. Then he brought up by Vasudeva’s friend Nanda and his wife Yashoda. People knows everything about his life but thre is a fact which is very rarely known. That why Lord Vishnu choose Jail to take birth as Lord Krishana.
It is believed that there is a deep scientific as well as spiritual reason behind this. According to historians Jail is the place from where negativity enters in human being’s life. Where people who did crimes are kept in jail. People used to live in the wall of bars caught by chains. They are treated like animals to punish them for their crimes. Then why Lord choose this place filled with negativity as his birth place.
Researchers said that Lord Krishna represent God consciousness as the self. Lord Krishna’s avtara was taken to remove the negativity from the world, so he decided to start this from himself. Historians stated that lord krishna’s birth as the process of self realization. Negative thoughts and desires are the only reason of our ignorance. According to Yoga Sutras of Patanjali eight spiritual factors in our behaviour are helpful to avoid this ignorance which are Self control, Bodily postures, breath control, withdrawal, one pointed, meditation and self – realization. This is why lord choose himself to born as the eight child, to became the symbol of Self – realization. He took birth on the eight day of Shravana.
While Krishna birth this ignorance is symbolized as Jail. Which is responsible for to spread darkness in life of people. The small gates of the jail represented as narrow minded thoughts and small room of jail represented as limitedness to everything. He want to taught people the lesson of Self – realization. Self – realization is only possible if the other seven factors being conducted and successfully negotiated.
Hindu holy books stated that Krishna was born when Devaki was in the state of Samadhi. Which is indicated as a state where there is a balance between good and bad. Sages described Samadhi by dividing it into two parts Sam which means equal and Adhi which means intelligence. So they made it clear that when anyone put himself/herself in the state of Samadhi they are believed to aquire the power of equal intelligence towards good and bad.
In Bhagwat Geeta it is said that when Lord krishana took birth the chains of Vasudeva and Devaki fell off, the doors opened which are bolted by heavy nails and guards suddenly went to sleep. Then vasudeva put Krishana in a basket and started leaving for Gokul. At the same time Yashoda who was wife of Nanda gave birth to a girl in Gokul. Vasudeva had to cross the river Yamuna to reach Gokul in the heavy rain.
Here chains are the sign of external world and five senses of a human being which became an obstacle in their way of self – realization. These five senses or vices or we can say vikaras are Lust (Kaam), Anger (Krodha), Greed (Lobh), emotional attachment (moh) and Ego (Ahankar). The opening gates represents the control over all these vikaras or vices. To reach at the level of self – realization it is very important to remove these vices from body, mind and heart. They are depicted as the biggest enemies of human being in the way of their good deeds.
Sleeping guards is a represented as the state of self – realization where one is free from all his / her vices and totally cut himself from the world. A life far from Kaam, Krodha, Lobh, Moh and Lobh is the life to be lived with the name of God and to serve the God.
It is believed that when Vasudeva was crossing the river there was heavy rain and thunderstorm. The thunderstorm is considered as the sign of uncontrolled desires. In Bhagwat Geeta it is stated that when Lord Krishana’s feet touched the water turbulent of river Yamuna, everything became settle. Krishna at this point taught people a spiritual lesson which is if we seek our selves from inside as well as from outside towards pure consciousness at any turbulent state can be controlled.
When Vasudeva reached at Gokul, he said everything to his dear friend Nanda. After knowing the truth Nanda decided to help Vasudeva. He exchanged Lord Krishna with his daughter. The daughter of Nanda and Devaki is considered as Maya – Shakti , mean the power of illusion which can make anyone disoriented. After taking Nanda’s daughter Vasudev headed back ko the jail of mathura. After his arrival all the guards woke up, doors started closing and Devaki and Vasudeva again found themselves in chains.
This was the indicator that only Lord Krishna can help people to get up from their vices or vikaras and lead them towards the path of Self – realization. When Kansa who was brother of Devaki knew that his Kala (one who will kill him) took birth on the earth he frequently moved towards the Jail and ordered his guards to open it and take the child from her parents. Kansa thought that the baby girl is his Kala and he throw he on the floor or may be on the rock.
Then the girl came in her Maya Shakti form and told Kansa that she was not his Kala, his Kala is somewhere else and soon he will be there to kill him and disappeared. Maya Shakti acted as an illusion to secure the Lord Krishana as well as to aware Kansa from truth.
This incident played by Lord to taught people about self – realization is incredible. It also make clear that Jail also has Bhagwan’s (God) name. He chose jail as his birthplace to give it his name, to give message to people that bars are in the thoughts and Karma of people.
The Land where Lord Krishana took birth is located in Mathura (Uttar Pradesh ) and named by people as Krishna Janam Bhoomi . Now this place is converted in to a very beautiful temple known as Keshav Deva temple. Devotees of Lord Krishna came there to see the Birth place of Lord ( jail ). The jail is located at the basement of the Keshav deva temple which is known as Garbha Girah Temple. Except the priest of the temple nobody is allowed to enter the Jail, devotees worship the place from outside the jail. Lord also blessed Maya Shakti to be worshiped at his birth place, which results an temple dedicated to Maya Shakti known as Yogamaya temple. Maya Shakti here worshiped as Goddess Yogamaya and bless her devotees with her eight-handed devi swaroopa.
